She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, partying, and spending time with her family. Known as a jokester, she made everyone around her laugh. She NEVER knew a stranger and left an impact on everyone who knew and love her. She had a contagious smile and a laugh that would brighten the room. Spankie was known as the life of the party. She was preceded in death by her husband, Poncho parents, Namon and Mildred Cunningham, and brother, Namon Cunningham, Jr. Norma Jean Cunningham departed this earthly life on Monday, Septemat 7:49 a.m. Her places of employment included American Fletcher National Bank, Roto-Rooter, Rex’s Business Machine, Holiday Inn, and Marriott Hotels. Spankie was employed for several years in Indianapolis. “Poncho” Turner, who preceded her in death. On September 1, 2001, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Spankie was united in Holy Matrimony to Marvin L. Spankie loved her church family, especially Pastor and Sister White. She served in many ministries at Pathway, including, the Culinary Committee, Follow-Up Ministry, Choir, and also as the President of the Pastor’s Aid Ministry. She united with Pathway Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. After relocating to Indianapolis, she joined Western Star Baptist Church, and later Abyssinian Missionary Baptist Church in her Christian walk. Spankie professed her hope in Jesus Christ and accepted him as her Lord and Savior at an early age in Memphis. She then went on to graduate from Northwest High School, where she was part of the ROTC and drill team. She received her primary education at Riverside School #44. Spankie was educated in the Indianapolis Public School System. “ Spankie”, which she was affectionately known to many, was the third of four children born to the late Namon and Mildred Coburn Cunningham.Īfter spending her early childhood years in Memphis, Spankie, along with her family, moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1965. Norma Jean Cunningham was born on April 19, 1959, in Memphis, Tennessee.
